“The members of the council were amazed when they saw
the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men
with no special training in the scriptures.
They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.”
-Acts 4:13
In this passage Peter and John had just healed a lame man and
were boldly preaching the Good News. The
number of believers in Christ had reached 5,000 men and that wasn’t including
women and children. They were boldly
teaching and preaching and the amazing thing is that they had no special
training in the scriptures. They had
just kept company with Jesus.
Have you ever let a lack of training in the scriptures or
self doubt that you don’t know enough stop you from doing what God has called
you to do? Maybe He is calling you to serve in your church or attend a Bible
Study, but there is a voice of doubt in your head telling you that you are just
going to embarrass yourself with your lack of knowledge. Perhaps He has called you to step out of your
comfort zone and talk to that friend or family member about Jesus, but you are
afraid that if they ask you a question you may not have the right answer. Let me tell you something, sister; God has
big plans and He desires to use an ordinary women like us to fulfill them. You see, God knows full well how much Bible
knowledge you have stored up in your head, but He also recognizes you as one
who has been with Jesus. Keep company
with Jesus and He will give you all you need to do what He has called you to
do.
Lord, thank
you for your precious words that meet me right where I am. I praise you for the privilege I have to keep
company with a Holy God. Thank you for
walking by my side and speaking directly to my fears and doubts. Thank you for calling me to do great things
in your name. Jesus, I am out of the
boat, walking on the waves toward you.
Keep beckoning me forward, and I will keep my eyes on you. I love you Lord. I pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
